Originally built by Elias Elliot in 1762. The property stayed in the Elliot family until 1919. Four generations of the Elliot family called this place home.

Elliott House Timeline
The Elliot Family farmstead started on June 12, 1754 when Elias Elliot purchased 120 acres of land in the township Number One in the Province of New Hampshire from Jonathan Powers for the sum of 50 pounds.

This photo is a front view of the house from the lower field. In front of the stone wall is Mitchel Hill Rd. The road no longer exists. To the left of the house is the barn that was struck by lightning and burned down a few years after this photo was taken. The foundation remains today.

This photo is a rear view of the house from the upper field. We’re not sure when this photo was taken. Center left is a large elm tree that was planted by Elias Sr when he was a young man. Below is an account from George Elliot Wright about the elm. Unfortunately, the tree was affected by Dutch Elm Disease.
